Procedures of obtaining the equivalence

1 - File making-up :

Anyone who wishes to obtain the equivalence of his/her diploma or title obtained abroad or from a Tunisian private higher education institution should present to the Direction of equivalences a file made up of the following documents :

The main documents :

  • A copy of the national identity card or of the legal guardian's national identity card for minors or of Tunisian spouse in case of necessity (for the foreigners).

  • A copy of the three front pages of the passport as well as a copy of the residence permit for foreigners.

  • A copy of the marriage certificate delivered by Tunisian authorities for foreign spouses.

  • 2 stamped envelopes whith the exact address of the candidate and the city zip code.

For the baccalaureat diploma equivalence, the applicant should present, besides the main papers mentioned above, the following documents :

  • A certified copy of the attestation of attendance at school presented to the equivalence signed by the Tunisian authorities in Tunisia or abroad.

  • A certified copy of the attestation of attendance at school covering the years of secondary education or the school reports signed by the Tunisian authorities in Tunisia or abroad.

For the equivalence of university diplomas the applicant should also present :

  • A certified copy signed by the Tunisian authorities in Tunisia or abroad of every diploma obtained (baccalaureat diploma included) and presented to the equivalence.

  • Syllabi, Texts which organize them, mark sheets, Exam results, Number of credits, and any other document that might be useful to the study of the equivalence file.

  • A copy of the thesis or the dissertation (Bachelor's or Master's degree or Doctorate).

For the Accreditation equivalence the applicant should present :

  • A certified copy of doctorate diploma.

  • A certified copy of accreditation diploma.

  • A certificate justifying the degree of senior lecturer or an equivalent degree in Tunisia or abroad.

  • Present a file reflecting the whole works and must comprise, besides the doctorate thesis, all the original works published (books, manuals, articles in scientific magazines, letters patent …).

Remarks :

  • The incomplete files will not be reviewed.

  • If in one month-period there is no answer to the equivalence demand, the applicants can contact the equivalences Direction.

  • The presentation of the national ID card in every contact with the administration is compulsory.

  • The presentation of the original diplomas is compulsory. They are returned immediately.

2 - File Deposit :

The equivalence file should be presented personally by the applicant, or by anyone else legally appointed to that effect, to the concerned agent at the equivalences Direction.

The agent proceeds to the authenticity checking of the documents before appending his signature on each paper.

The applicant, after that, brings the file to the central dispatching office in the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Technology.
The students living abroad can deposit the files in the University missions bureau or, eventually, in the tunisian consulates and ambassies abroad.

The decisions of equivalence are delivered to the applicants or  to the persons legally appointed.
