The training provided in the ISET aims at:
In this way, the would-be senior technician is prepared to:
It should be highlighted that the training is defined on the basis of very open specialities. This means that the student is not prepared to some determined and compartmentalized professions, but to certain types of functions, a certain degree of polyvalence. All these objectives imply precise choices in terms of the qualifications of the teaching staff, the programs and the schooling. 1- The Teaching Staff : Technicians and Engineers The nature of the studies in the ISET, the practical character and the openness on the environment of this kind of teaching, the necessity to have the adequate number of students, all this requires a teaching staff endowed with high theoretical, technological and pedagogical competencies as well as a sufficient knowledge of the Tunisian enterprise reality. In order to meet all needs of the ISET, it has been decided to create a new teaching staff : the technician-teachers who provide an integrated teaching made of theoretical courses, practical works, guided works and the supervision of the application works as well as the trainings within the enterprises. They may also take part in the programs of continuous formation, studies, applied researches or technology transfer in the framework of conventions concluded between the ISET and the enterprises or other public or private institutions. Beside the technician-teachers, the ISET takes on teachers from various background, in particular for fundamental disciplines, such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, languages, etc… The ISET can also hire professionals from industrial and tertiary sectors to take in charge, according to their competencies, part of the training and the supervision of the would-be senior technicians. The intervention of professionals in this level is doubly advantageous : enrich the teaching by their practical knowledge, and establish a footbridge between the ISET and the enterprise where the professional serves. 2- The Programs For each training discipline, the content of the curricula is determined on a national level, to the limit of 75% of the global hourly volume. The rest of the hourly volume is defined in each Institute by the scientific and technological council, on the proposal of the concerned department and taking into account the specificities of the disciplines taught in this Institute and the economic and social environment of the region where the Institute is implanted. The content of the 75% of the hourly volume is defined on a national level and ensures a basic training for the senior technician in the concerned speciality. The freedom granted for each ISET to define the content of the 25% of the remaining hourly volume permits the latter to be open to the concerns of the region where it is situated, by taking into account the available human and material resources of that region. 3- The Scholarships The ISET assures a high-level education, so the enrollment of the students is carried out at least on the level of the baccalaureate or an equivalent diploma. The scholarship lasts six semesters:
This half-yearly modulation of the scholarship is a guaranty of training quality : The student accedes to the superior level only after proving his good and regular assimilation of the teachings. The compulsory attendance of theoretical and practical teachings is an additional guaranty for the quality of the training provided to the senior technicians : the system applied in the ISET doesn't tolerate more than 10% of absences. otherwise, the student should redo the semester. The scholarship is composed of :
All these elements are taken into account for the final assessment and the obtaining of the diploma. This apportionment
highlights clearly the importance given to the practical aspect of the
training and the willingness to develop the technical competencies of the
would-be senior technician in order to make of him an agent rapidly
operational in his professional environment. |
