The B.A degree (Maîtrise) in translation differs from the other literary B.A degrees since it admits not the holders of Baccalaureate but the student having a first cycle diploma (DEUPC) in languages and literature, human and social sciences or an equivalent diploma.

The studies last two years and the student who wishes to follow this track should sit for a competing entrance examination.

The access to this discipline requires the knowledge of three languages at least : main language (language A), first foreign language (language B), and second foreign language (language C).

The modules of the study are the following :

  • Modules of the study : improvement of the level in languages A, B and C
  • Module of general translation
  • Module of specialized teaching : methodology of the translation, lexicography, economical and juridical translation, scientific and technical translation.
  • Module of general courses : Introduction to the study of law, international relations, initiation to economy, synthesis, terminology, introduction to the translation theory.

The B.A degree (Maîtrise) of translation is regulated by the ministerial order issued on 24 October, 1996 (Official Journal of the Tunisian Republic N°88, 1 November, 1996).
