The dental prosthesist works in
close
collaboration with the
dentist. His clients are mainly composed of children with anomalies in their buccal-dental apparatus that, if not treated, may constitute a handicap, at
least
of an aesthetic
nature. The other category of
patients is composed of old people
having lost partly or totally their teeth, with all the consequences and
difficulties, notably in relation with the digestion of aliments. The treatment of these illnesses is made through varied apparatus (prosthesis) that the dental prosthesist can make on the basis of the dentist's indication. Most of the prosthesists practice in the private sector. The discipline is taught in Monastir Higher School of Health Sciences and Techniques in close collaboration with Monastir Faculty of Medicine. The dental prosthesist is a technician and an educator. |
