The highly qualified technician's diplomas
are delivered by the Higher Schools of Health Sciences and Techniques.
There are three higher schools implanted in Tunis, Monastir and Sfax. Many
specialities are actually taught in the Tunisian schools : anesthesia,
biology, cyto-morphology, hygiene, human nutrition, obstetric, orthophony,
physiotherapy, radiology, food technology, dental prosthesis, medical
secretariat…
About 5500 highly qualified technicians are graduates and are in practice (source : Ministry of Public Health, 1995). The majority of them are recruited by the Ministry of Public Health in the hospitals, health centers, teaching institutions and central and regional services of the Administration. The rest practice in institutions and societies under the supervision of other Ministries (center of motor functions reeducation, STEG, SONEDE, collective restoration), or are employed by private companies (clinics, laboratories of biologic analysis, factories of drugs and cosmetics, hostelry, agro-food industry, thermalism center ) or associations (aid to the handicapped, sports associations)… |
