2. SECOND CYCLE

According to what they are aiming to, the students, holders of DEUPC in SLE, may orientate toward three categories of B.Sc. degree (Maîtrise).

A - Fondamental B.Sc. degrees that prepare to doctoral studies and to scientific research :

  • B.Sc. degree (Maîtrise) in sciences of life

  • B.Sc. degree (Maîtrise) in sciences of earth

B - Applied B.Sc. degrees that prepare to a profession in the fields of biology and geology :

  • Biotechnology, Animal's Management…

  • Cartography, geology, environment geology, geophysics….

C -  B.Sc. degrees in natural sciences that prepare to the profession of teacher at high school.

3. THIRD CYCLE'S STUDIES

1. D.E.S.S

The diploma of higher specialized studies (D.E.S.S), sanctions the specialized applied training, conceived and realized, eventually, with the help of organisms from the socio-economic sector. It's open, preferably, to the holders of applied B.Sc. degrees.

The studies, for obtaining the D.E.S.S., last between two and four semesters. They comprise :

a-  Teachings in the concerned speciality sanctioned by written, oral and, eventually, practical examinations.

b- One or many trainings at the end of which the student prepares a training memoir focusing on a practical subject, decided in a common agreement between the concerned institution of higher education and research on one hand, and the organism in which the training has been carried out on the other hand.

2. DOCTORAL STUDIES

The doctoral studies comprise a cycle sanctioned by the obtaining of the Advanced Studies Diploma (D.E.A.), followed by the preparation of a thesis for the obtaining of the doctorate diploma.

  • D.E.A : The studies for the obtaining of the Advanced Studies Diploma comprise :

a- Teachings in the concerned discipline, focusing on advanced training, initiation to research and pedagogy and, eventually, a complementary training in the annex disciplines.

b- The preparation of a research memoir on an original subject.

Studies for obtaining the Advanced Studies Diploma last four consecutive semesters divided as follows :

    • Two semesters reserved to teaching.

    • Two semesters for the preparation of the memoir and, eventually, for research trainings and complementary pedagogical training.
  • Thesis : The normal duration of the preparation of the thesis is three years.

The habilitated institutions deliver the doctorate diploma, mentioning the discipline, to candidates having presented and defended successfully a thesis with an original contribution on a research subject and establishing that he possesses the general culture, the mastering of scientific methods and the spirit of analysis and synthesis required.
